José M. Simão

I am an Assistant Professor (“Professor Adjunto”) at the Engineering School of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (ISEL // IPL), where I work in distributed systems, cloud computing, and computer security. I hold a PhD in Informatics and Computer Engineering from ULisboa (IST), supervised by Prof. Luís Veiga, and I am a researcher at INESC-ID Lisboa in the Distributed, Parallel and Secure Systems. At ISEL, I am a member of Future Internet Technologies (FIT), a research group with strong ties to society.

My research focuses on cloud infrastructure and services, particularly serverless architectures, as well as computer security, with results published in several high-impact journals and international conferences. I have also taken part in consultancy projects with government departments, municipalities, and private organizations. I currently serve on the coordination board of the Master’s in Computer Engineering and Informatics (MEIC) and am a member of the Technical-Scientific Council at ISEL.
