José M. Simão
I am an Assistant Professor ("Professor Adjunto") at the Engineering School of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (ISEL // IPL), where I work in the areas of distributed systems, cloud computing, and computer security. I hold a PhD in Informatics and Computer Engineering from ULisboa (IST), supervised by Prof. Luís Veiga, and am a researcher at INESC-ID Lisboa with the Distributed, Parallel and Secure Systems group. At ISEL, I am a member of Future Internet Technologies (FIT), a research group with a strong connection to society.
My research focuses on cloud infrastructure and services, particularly serverless architectures, as well as computer security. Work in these areas has been published in several high-impact journals and international conferences. In addition, participation in consultancy projects includes collaborations with government departments, municipalities, and private organizations. I currently serve on the coordination board of the Master’s in Computer Engineering and Informatics (MEIC) and am a member of the Council of Representatives at ISEL.
